Drama in King's Cup as Al Ittihad and Al Qadsiah book final showdown

Al Ittihad and Al Qadsiah will meet in an all-Roshn Saudi League King’s Cup final after both sealed their place in the showpiece in dramatic fashion.

Al Ittihad, the RSL leaders, had to rebound from a goal down in extra-time on Tuesday to see off Al Shabab in Jeddah, Danilo Pereira scoring twice to completely turn around the tie and seal his side’s place in the final.

Pereira, signed last September from Paris-Saint Germain, equalised in the 92nd minute before grabbing the winner seven minutes later to secure a 3-2 victory for the hosts at Alinma Stadium.

Fabinho had earlier opened the scoring for Al Ittihad with a penalty before Cristian Guanca struck twice in three minutes shortly after half-time to give Al Shabab the lead.

Al Ittihad will now take on Al Qadsiah in next month’s final, after the Al Khobar club just about saw off RSL bottom club Al Raed on Wednesday.

Enjoying a season to remember back in the Saudi Arabian top flight, Al Qadsiah triumphed 1-0 thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s 92nd-minute winner.

The former Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal and Barcelona forward has been inspired upon his debut season in the Kingdom, with 11 RSL goals thus far as fourth-placed Al Qadsiah remain just about in the title race heading into the competition's second Derby Week.

Meanwhile, new Al Raed manager Kresimir Rezic gets his first taste of RSL action on Sunday, when his side host Al Khaleej in need of a victory to kick-start their quest for survival.
