Al Fayha have confirmed former Al Taawoun, Al Nassr and Al Khaleej manager Pedro Emanuel as their new head coach until the end of the 2024-25 Roshn Saudi League.
The Al Majma’ah club, currently second from bottom in the standings, announced the Portuguese tactician’s appointment on Tuesday. Emanuel, 49, replaces in the dugout Greek counterpart Christos Kontis, who left the club last week by mutual consent.
Emanuel knows the RSL well having taken charge of Al Taawoun, Al Nassr and Al Khaleej. Last season, he guided the latter to 11th in the table, before departing in the summer.
Emanuel, who has other experience of managing in the region with UAE club Al Ain, is perhaps best known for his season in charge of Al Taawoun from 2018-19, when he led the Buraidah side to a third-placed finish – their highest of the Saudi Pro League era - and the King’s Cup crown.
It remains Al Taawoun’s most high-profile success in their history. Emanuel concluded the campaign as the 2018-19 RSL Manager of the Season.
Al Fayha have endured a difficult season thus far, with a solitary win from 13 RSL matches. They entered the winter break on the back of Thursday’s 2-2 draw at Damac, and will resume their league season on January 11, at home to current leaders Al Ittihad.
