Cristiano Ronaldo continued his superb start to 2025 with another goalscoring display to inspire Al Nassr to a 3-1 victory against Al Fateh on Sunday night.
The Portuguese superstar, top scorer in last season’s Roshn Saudi League, grabbed the hosts’ third goal at Awwal Park – and was even later denied what would have been one of his best since joining the club in December 2022. His sumptuous strike from the angle in injury-time was ruled out for an offside in the build-up.
Nevertheless, Ronaldo had earlier netted a fourth goal in four games to begin the year, keeping him out in front in the race for the 2024-25 golden boot. With 14 for the season, the record-breaking Al Nassr captain sits two ahead of both Al Ittihad’s Karim Benzema and Al Hilal’s Aleksandar Mitrovic.
On social media, Ronaldo posted a picture of his celebration with teammate Sadio Mane – the former Liverpool and Bayern Munich forward had teed-up his skipper’s 87th-minute goal – with the caption: “We’re not stopping”.
The Matchweek 17 win moves Al Nassr back into third place in the table, eight points back from Al Hilal and Al Ittihad, who are locked at the top on 43. However, both teams play on Monday, with leaders Al Hilal away to fourth-placed Al Qadsiah and Al Ittihad making the trip to Damac, who lie 12th.
