Roshn Saudi League stars enjoyed a winning night at Dubai’s Globe Soccer Awards 2024 on Friday, with Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo, Al Hilal head coach Jorge Jesus and talisman Neymar all picking up individual honours at the ceremony.
Six-time winner of the Globe Soccer Best Player of the Year award, Ronaldo was crowned with his second consecutive Best Middle East Player prize following a year in which he broke the all-time record for goals in a single RSL season, after he found the net 35 times in 2023-24.
The Portuguese legend, continuing his march towards the 1,000 career-goals milestone, was also honoured with the Top Goalscorer of All Time award. At the age of 39, Ronaldo currently stands at 916 career goals, including a world record 135 international goals in 217 Portugal caps.
Speaking at the event, Ronaldo described the award as motivation to carry on adding to his tally, saying: “In one month, I will be 40 years old, but I’m not finished yet. I will continue because I want to win titles and I want to be a champion and score more goals. I want to try to win with the national team.”
Meanwhile, Al Hilal forward Neymar was named as one of three winners of the Player Career Award 2024 alongside former England defender Rio Ferdinand and Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. The Riyadh club’s No.10 is Brazil’s all-time top scorer with 79 goals in 128 caps, surpassing Pele’s record of 77 goals back in September 2023.
Neymar’s boss at Kingdom Arena, Jesus, had an incredible year in which he led Al Hilal to winning the 2023-24 RSL title with an unbeaten record. In the process, the Portuguese manager's side entered the Guinness World Records Book with the most consecutive men's association-football victories, with 34 wins in a row between September 2023 and April 2024.
The 70-year-old, the 2023-24 RSL Manager of the Season, was rewarded on Friday night with the inaugural Best Middle East Coach award.
